Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell works as a journalist at NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has an undergraduate degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began as a radio and TV reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. She became a reporter for the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) located in Washington DC. She was hired by NBC News Washington two years following that as an general reporter. 1980 began her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the main congressional reporter. Then, in 1992 she was appointed Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994, she was named chief foreign affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell was host and panelists on the TV show Meet the Press. She participated as a member of a panel discussion at the the 1988 Presidential Debates, which featured George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to honor her achievements in the field of journalism. In 2004 The Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award to recognize of her contributions to protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began reporting on the White House in 1981-1988, in both the Reagan presidency. Mitchell has reported on a variety of notable reports over the years, such as budget reform, tax reform and an investigation into the Iran Contra affair. She travelled frequently together with Reagan as well as Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
